Slovakia lacks research and coordination between state authorities in the framework of cybersecurity

On April 29, 2019, Globsec organized an event on the Development of Cyber Security in Slovakia.

The first part of the event presented the results of a survey of Slovakia Cyber Readiness, which was carried out in cooperation with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Investment and Informatization and the support of Aliter Technologies and Microsoft. The second part was devoted to a panel discussion where representatives of the state administration, the academic world, the non-profit sector and business discussed the steps that Slovakia must take to strengthen its cyber security.

The biggest problems of Slovak cyber security are insufficient research and lack of coordination between state authorities. Cybersecurity expert Melissa Hathaway, former counselor for cyber security of George H. Bush and Barack Obama, express this opinion on the presentation of the Slovakia Cyber Readiness survey. In her opinion, cyber security in Slovakia has a problem particularly with the lack of cooperation between the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Investment and Informatization and the National Security Authority, as well as the lack of qualified experts in the field.
