GDPR – General Data Protection Regulation

The GDPR Regulation introduces a set of new requirements and obligations with which the affected entities must comply by no later than May 25, 2018.

Who is affected by GDPR?

GDPR applies to all entities that collect, record, and process personal information.

For whom is GDPR binding?

GDPR is binding for EU-based entities, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. The Regulation is also binding for entities operating on the EU market, even if their head office is registered outside of the EU.

What does GDPR bring?

Among other things, GDPR also introduces new measures and concepts such as profiling, genetic data, and pseudonymization. It extends the obligations and responsibilities of intermediaries, and regulates the right to portability of personal data. GDPR also introduces the right to correct incorrect personal data and the right to delete personal data.

When do the changes take effect?

The GDPR regulation entered into force on April 27, 2016. The GDPR Regulation is binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all EU member states from May 25, 2018.
