Birds and Powerlines - Solutions Expo 2026

  • Conferences
We participated in the professional event Birds and Powerlines - Solutions Expo 2026, organized by Ochrana dravcov na Slovensku (Raptor Protection of Slovakia). The event focused on presenting solutions that help mitigate the negative impact of power lines on birdlife, particularly through devices designed to divert the flight paths of birds at risk of collision.

The Expo was held in parallel with the international conference Free Sky For Birds 2026, which served as the closing event of the LIFE Danube Free Sky project. Since 2020, the project has been dedicated to increasing the safety of power lines along the Danube River, aiming to protect birds from electrocution and collisions with overhead lines.

Innovations for Safer Energy Infrastructure

During the first two days, exhibitors from Slovakia, Ireland, Hungary, Spain, and Sweden presented:

  • visibility enhancement devices for power lines (flight diverters),

  • insulation solutions to protect birds from electric shock,

  • safer structural modifications of utility poles and crossarms,

  • technical innovations, including specialized drone technologies.

Field Demonstrations

The third day of the event was dedicated to practical field demonstrations. Our drone pilots showcased the installation of bird flight diverters on power line conductors using specially adapted drones.

The demonstration highlighted:

  • a safe and efficient installation method without the need for power outages,

  • speed and precision of installation,

  • minimal environmental impact.

The deployment of drone technologies represents a modern and environmentally friendly approach to bird protection while also increasing efficiency in energy infrastructure operations.

We view our participation in the event as an important opportunity to share our expertise, establish new professional partnerships, and actively contribute to bird protection within the energy sector.

We are proud to be part of solutions that connect technology with nature conservation.
