Those who reject AI today are missing out: 3 areas where artificial intelligence can save you time and money

Artificial intelligence has become a key concept not only in the global technology debate in recent years, but increasingly also in Slovakia.

From startups experimenting with language models and data analysts, to state institutions and academic institutions looking for ways to incorporate AI into everyday practice - development is slower than abroad, but it is not losing momentum.

While some Slovak companies and universities are among the leaders in the field of research or applied AI, others are only beginning to discover its potential.

Expert Peter Bakonyi, Data Scientist Senior from Aliter Technologies, also spoke at Startitup about current developments in the field of AI in Slovakia and in which areas AI is most needed.

A technological innovator with Slovak roots and global reach

Aliter Technologies is a Slovak technology company founded in 2007, specializing in information and communication technologies, cybersecurity, software development and specialized hardware.

It operates globally, has branches in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Canada and has implemented over 300 projects for international clients, including NATO.

Its portfolio includes cloud solutions, tactical communication, unmanned systems, as well as devices for seniors. The company holds several ISO and military certifications and is also actively engaged in social responsibility and education support.

It will not replace doctors, but it is very necessary in medicine

Artificial intelligence in healthcare does not mean the end of human doctors - on the contrary, it becomes their important assistant. It can quickly process huge amounts of data, helping doctors make diagnoses, plan treatments, and predict health risks.

“However, it will never replace doctors as such – even if something happened, who would the patient sue? Probably not artificial intelligence,” says Peter Bakonyi.

Nevertheless, it is also a great help in medicine – in the fields of radiology, pathology, and cardiology, AI tools are already commonly used to detect diseases that might otherwise escape the human eye.

“For example, we have a project in the care of senior citizens. We are introducing artificial intelligence there to increase non-invasive monitoring of their health,” explains Bakonyi.

AI is key for administration

In administration, huge volumes of routine tasks are processed daily – data entry, document management, communication with clients, invoicing, planning and reporting.

“We have an electronic ID card, we log in via slovensko.sk – but if the state could digitize the entire process and move it to a higher level, solving everything online would be a significant simplification. Especially for sole traders and small entrepreneurs,” says Bakonyi.

Modern AI systems can automatically sort and analyze data, recognize the content of documents, respond to suggestions or predict where a problem may arise.

The result would be faster processing of agendas, fewer errors and officials who can devote themselves to more important tasks than just administrative routine.

More efficient functioning in all aspects

The biggest benefit of AI for companies is in automation – many are now deploying it as a digital assistant or agent to automate routine and time-consuming processes.

AI helps to automatically process data, sort documents, answer customer questions or plan tasks. Automation with AI significantly facilitates the operation of companies – it shortens the time needed to complete routine tasks, reduces error rates and increases employee efficiency.

Thanks to this, workers can devote more time to more complex and creative tasks that move the company forward. “Automation is very beneficial for companies – the simplest example is ChatGPT and the superstructure language models with which we communicate. So I give it some input, it gives me some output. From that point of view, it is an assistant for us,” explains Bakonyi.

According to him, artificial intelligence was never intended to replace humans from the developers' perspective, but to make more laborious things easier.

What to watch out for with artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence can generate texts, images and videos that appear trustworthy, but can be completely false. The misuse of AI poses an increasingly greater threat to individuals and society.

According to Peter Bakonyi, senior data scientist at Aliter Technologies, it is important not only to use AI responsibly, but also to understand its risks.

He particularly draws attention to the following:

  • Model hallucinations – AI sometimes invents information that sounds convincing, but is not based on facts.

  • Deepfake content – realistic videos or images can show people in situations that never happened.

  • Phishing and cyberattacks – attackers use AI to generate fraudulent emails or SMS that appear to be official messages.

  • Spreading disinformation – unlabeled AI content spreads quickly on social networks and can manipulate public opinion.

  • Obtaining sensitive data – AI can be abused for social engineering and unauthorized information extraction.

Bakonyi recommends being cautious, checking facts and not believing every output just because it seems credible.
